The 2027 World Rowing Championships in Lucerne would be inconceivable without volunteers. Their commitment makes it possible for top international athletes, teams and fans to enjoy the Rotsee experience an unforgettable major event.

Being part of the volunteer team gives you a unique insight into the organization of an international sporting event. From setting up and running the event to looking after guests and delegations – volunteers make a decisive contribution to the success of the World Championships.

The assignment offers the opportunity to take an active look behind the scenes and experience the special dynamics of a global sporting event at close quarters.

A major sporting event like the World Rowing Championships cannot be managed without you. No matter whether you are a rowing fan or simply fancy helping out at an international event: As a volunteer, you will make an important contribution and gain valuable experience.

Good to know

We recommend traveling by public transport. The Rotsee is easily accessible and parking may be limited during the World Rowing Championships. You will receive detailed information on travel and meeting points by e-mail in good time before your assignment.

On the day of the regatta you report to the volunteer check-in on the regatta site. There you will receive all the important information about your assignment, your accreditation, your assignment times and other information for the day. A few assignments do not start at the volunteer check-in due to the special situation, if this is the case you will be informed accordingly in advance by e-mail.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable, sturdy shoes. The weather can change very quickly at Rotsee. It is always worth having rain protection, a sun hat and sun cream with you. Everything else you need for your mission will be explained to you in advance or provided directly on site.

Yes, you will be catered for during your assignment. You will find out the exact times and places for meals at check-in or from your assignment leader.

You will receive the official World Rowing Championships volunteer shirt. This clothing helps guests, teams and employees to recognize you as a contact person.

On site, your contact person and the volunteer team will be available to you at all times. If you have any urgent questions, you can get in touch with your contact person at any time or drop by the Volunteers Office directly.

Please follow the instructions of the organizing committee, wear your volunteer clothing during your assignment and ensure that you treat athletes, guests and other volunteers with respect. Safety and team spirit are paramount.

You will receive a safety card for your assignment. The card contains important information for visitors and in the event of an emergency. You must always carry the card with you during your assignment.
