Experience at the Rotsee
The Rotsee will become the stage for international rowing during the 2027 World Rowing Championships. An arena with over 30,000 spectators will be created in the finish area. This stadium-like atmosphere accompanies the athletes all the way to the finish line – intense, loud and unique.
Tickets & Entry
The 2027 World Rowing Championships in Lucerne will offer a comprehensive spectator experience with regulated access to the event site on the Rotsee. A valid ticket is required for access to the competitions.
A grandstand ticket gives you an optimal view of the regatta course from the weather-protected main grandstand. Tickets for the 2027 World Rowing Championships will soon be available.
Hospitality & VIP offers
The 2027 World Rowing Championships in Lucerne offer exclusive hospitality experiences in a special setting. Around the final days – probably from Thursday to Sunday – high-quality offers with a direct view of the regatta course on the Rotsee and culinary accompaniment at the highest level.
Various hospitality formats are planned in the immediate vicinity of the race action, including exclusive areas at the finish line grandstand and VIP zones near the winners’ jetty.

Arrival
To travel to the World Rowing Championships, we recommend using public transport and traveling by bike. The regatta site on the Rotsee is easily and sustainably accessible. Thanks to the good public transport connections and the signposted cycle paths, visitors can get to the event site stress-free.

Lucerne is well connected to the Swiss rail network. The most convenient way to reach the Rotsee from Lucerne railway station is by bus. Please refer to the “Bus” section for timetable details.
One of the easiest and most convenient ways to reach the Rotsee is by bicycle. Bring your own bike or use a public bike-sharing service such as Nextbike to get to the Rotsee without having to worry about parking or public transport tickets.
FROM ZURICH
The Rotsee can be reached from Zurich in approximately 50 minutes. Take Butzenbüelring towards the A51, then join the A4, E41 and A14 in the direction of Reusseggstrasse in Ebikon. Take exit 24–Rotsee and follow Reusseggstrasse, Sedel and Sedelstrasse. Then turn onto Friedentalstrasse.
FROM BASEL
The Rotsee can be reached from Basel in approximately 70 minutes. From Route Douanière de l’Aéroport, join the A3 towards Basel. After around 4 km, keep right onto the A2 towards Lucerne. Take exit 25 – Emmen Süd and follow Reusseggstrasse, Sedel and Sedelstrasse. Then turn onto Friedentalstrasse.
FROM GENEVA
The Rotsee can be reached from Geneva in approximately 2.5 hours. From Route de Pré-Bois, join the A1 towards Oftringen/Rotkreuz, then keep right onto the A2 in the direction of Lucerne. Take exit 25 – Emmen Süd and follow Reusseggstrasse, Sedel and Sedelstrasse. Then turn onto Friedentalstrasse.
FROM LUCERNE
From the railway station, cross the Seebrücke. Use the centre lane to turn left towards Ebikon onto Löwenstrasse. Continue along Zürichstrasse and turn onto Vallasterstrasse. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Friedentalstrasse.
PARKING
On Saturday and Sunday, you can use the parking spaces of the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital – parking lot east. You can reach the finish area in just a few minutes on foot. The path to the Rotsee is marked. There are also various public parking facilities in the city of Lucerne.
For international travel we recommend the airports Zurich Airport or EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg. Both airports have excellent connections to Lucerne and make it easy to continue your journey by public transport. You can reach Lucerne directly from Zurich Airport in around an hour, and there are regular connections from Basel with a single change. For the onward journey to the regatta site, we recommend using the train, bus or bicycle.

“Luzern schaut hin” is an initiative of the city of Lucerne that actively campaigns against harassment and assaults in public spaces. Using an anonymous online reporting tool, those affected can easily record incidents and thus help to make assaults visible. At the same time, the project promotes education, awareness-raising and civil courage. The aim is to ensure that everyone in Lucerne can move around safely and freely.
