Your Visit to Rotsee
Plan your visit to the 2027 World Rowing Championships at Rotsee. Here you’ll find the most important information about tickets, races, travel, and accessibility.
From August 23 to 29, 2027, Rotsee will become the gathering place for the international rowing elite. Choose your ticket zone, check out the race schedule, and plan your trip to Lucerne.
Tickets & Zones
Find out which ticket zone is right for your visit. Zone 1 connects the start, the lakeside path, and the opposite grandstand at Sedel. Zone 2 offers numbered seats in the finish area.
Access to Rotsee: Duringthe World Rowing Championships, the lakeside path from the boat storage area to the finish area is not open to the public. You’ll need a valid World Championships ticket for this section.
Arrival
We recommend using public transportation or a bike to get there. Rotsee is accessible by bus from Lucerne. Plan your route to the specific area—the start, regatta site, or finish—and choose the appropriate bus stop.
You can find information about bus stops, bike routes, and getting there by car in the following sections. Please note that some of the paths leading to Rotsee are steep. Information about accessible entry and wheelchair-accessible seating can be found below or on our ticket page.
TO THE FINISH AREA
Bus number 19 from boarding point R towards Luzern Friedental to the Urnerhof stop (13-minute walk)

Lucerne is well connected to the Swiss rail network. The most convenient way to reach the Rotsee from Lucerne railway station is by bus. Please refer to the “Bus” section for timetable details.
One of the easiest and most convenient ways to reach the Rotsee is by bicycle. Bring your own bike or use a public bike-sharing service such as Nextbike to get to the Rotsee without having to worry about parking or public transport tickets.
We are currently working on the parking arrangements around Rotsee. We will post information about parking spaces and access routes here as soon as it is finalized. We recommend using public transportation or a bicycle to get here.
For international travel we recommend the airports Zurich Airport or EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg. Both airports have excellent connections to Lucerne and make it easy to continue your journey by public transport. You can reach Lucerne directly from Zurich Airport in around an hour, and there are regular connections from Basel with a single change. For the onward journey to the regatta site, we recommend using the train, bus or bicycle.
